The students of NSS unit of Rosary Higher Secondary School Navelim, Salcete – Goa took part in beach cleanliness drive held at Majorda beach on the occasion of International coastal clean-up day on 17th September 2022. The cleanliness drive was organised by Government of Goa in association with the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change and Ministry of Tourism Government of Goa.
The beach cleanliness drive was attended by around 100 students of std XII Arts accompanied by Tr. Moris Almeida, Tr. Maria Gracias Flor Da Costa, Tr. Raleeta Cardozo, Tr. Melwyn Gomes, Tr Rosebel Fernandes and Tr. Melicsha Albuquerque. The event which begin at 8 AM was titled ‘Clean Coast, Safe Sea program’ with an aim to provide clean and safe beach environment for the locals and tourists who visit the beaches of Goa .
The students were provided with gloves, sanitizers, masks and badges by the organisers. Divided in small groups the students helped to clean a portion of Majorda beach by picking up plastic waste and other waste material washed up to the shore. This was followed by a group photo-session. Refreshments were also provided to the students at the end of the cleanliness drive.
